With
this website we aim to inform and entertain sprintcar fanatics about our
division of Sprintcars.
For the fans who already appreciate
sprintcar racing to be the most exciting form of motor sport, we will inform
you about our race dates and provide profiles of the drivers competing in
our division.
For current or future VSC Sprintcar
competitors, we offer pages detailing the rules under which we operate.
Included is the relatively simple engine rule that provides ample horsepower
at a reasonable price which is the key to close and affordable racing.
Historically, this class has
existed for quite a few years. It’s evolution has seen progress from heavy
out of date equipment to what we currently have with cars visually identical
to our “big cousins” in both Australia and overseas.
The focus of VSC Sprintcars is
being able to compete in a sprintcar at an affordable price.
For those who wish to start a
sprintcar career, there is no need to spend a small fortune.
We also focus on our “country
roots”, that is, we compete at country venues around Victoria where the
majority of us started our racing addiction. The result is we get to race
close to home and in front of the local supporters.
It is also our intention to create
a win/win situation for the track (club or promoter) and our competitors. We
will provide exciting racing to speedway fans at a minimal cost to both
track and competitor.
Other factors of interest are that
most of our teams are based around our families and we race because it is
fun.
Prior to the commencement of the
05-06 season a committee was formed to manage and promote the class. Office
Bearers for the 06-07 season have been elected with the new season calendar
finalized. Registration, licensing and technical specifications are under
the control of the Victorian Speedway Council.
There have been AGM's held annually in August and this
season Dennis Jones has taken on the role as President from Peter Curtis.
Peter has been instrumental in getting this class up and running and he is
enjoying spending more time with his #87 Clifton Mobile Homes Team.
The VSC “race rules” have been
massaged to better suit open wheel racing and spectator entertainment.
The number and variety of cars
registered to race with VSC Sprintcars has improved with Ford, Holden, Chev
and Mopar powered cars included in the teams.
So
take the time to browse through our website. Check out our race dates and
for potential competitors, do the sums on racing with VSC Sprintcars.
It’s all good fun.
See you at the track.
