Vic Title 2010

The feature saw Jones leading into the first turn followed by Logue who had qualified on pole. There was a stoppage between turns three and four the first time round which saw Allan Pitcher in the #99 car headed for the in field

After the first lap of the restart we saw Jones leading from Foster then Logue, Siely, Taylor, Cook, Davies and Barker. Barker soon made up ground and after the 10th lap Sands got too close to the wall at the same spot as the previous stoppage and he also pulled in. Jones was holding a handy lead and mid way through the race we saw Logue putting pressure on Foster for a few laps and he dived in under him on turn four resulting in Logue retiring with a flat right rear and Foster was made to start at the rear of the field after the restart.

Jones was driving well out in front and Taylor had moved up to second place. Then Siely, Cook and Foster were the remaining cars in the field. Foster got through Cook but Cook got his place back but after a couple more laps Foster had worked his way up to third place.

Rear tyres were starting to give way. Jones crossed the line first followed by Foster then Taylor who managed to finish third with his right rear down. Siely also had tyre problems coming round turn four for the last time resulting in he and Cook coming together and unable to finish.

Foster led throughout from Logue, Barker and  Mark Smith having his first run with the class.

2B
Cook got the best of the start and led Siely, Moore. Logue who was caught back in the field as was Foster. Early on Cook brushed the wall between 3 and 4 and restarted ROF. Leon Hennesy and David Barker  were there also as was Warrwick Taylor having his first run in his new car.

Mitch Foster took out the next heat from Siely Logue Hennesy Painter Bowman Hunter and Sands.

David Barker lead from start to finish in the fourth and final heat with Foster following him through to stay in second place.Hennesy held out Siely for third and then came Taylor, Hunter and Davies.

Foster qualified on pole for the Final and lead down the back straight for the first time.
Siely came out of turn two close behind followed by Logue, Bowman, Painter getting his new car going well, then Hennesy, Barker, Hunter and Sands.
Taylor moved up to fourth place in lap 4 and this is how they stayed till lap 12 when there was a yellow. Foster had opened up a handy lead as did Siely from the rest of the field.
There was another stoppage and this time Logue managed to get through Siely to get in second.
So it was another great effort by Mitch Foster to lead throughout , Logue showed his experience in getting into second, Siely and crew  would be really happy the way he went, it didn’t Taylor long to get the feel of sprintcar racing, Hennesy got in fifth from Barker, Bowman, Hunter and Sands.

Rosedale 5/12/09

It was Mitch Foster who took out the feature at Rosedale on Sat night. He qualified on pole and got the start and led throughout.

Half the field was made up drivers having their  first year with the class. Two first timers tonight. This shows there is interest in the class. These drivers come with different racing backgrounds and those without sprintcar experience take a little while to adjust.

There were four heats run with each driver having a run in three. Peter Logue took advantage of his pole start in the first heat and showed he had his car set up well to take out the heat from David Moore and Leon Hennessy.

The second heat saw Logue take the lead and Foster was unable to catch him. Moore was third and David Barker came in fourth,
Rod Bowman got a good start in the third heat and Foster managed to get under him at turn four with four laps to go and Hennessy came in third. Geoff Ryde was getting the feel of things and got in fourth. The fourth heat was called after several attempts to get started.

Final

Coming out of turn two the first time Bowman rode the wheel of a car in front and took a nasty end for end. Fortunately Rod was OK but the car was in bad shape. This was a disappointment as he was looking forward to doing so well after Bairnsdale last start.
However after the restart Foster led Hennessy, Logue , Barker Moore and Sands
Foster could not be caught and Logue got through Hennessy with a couple of laps to go and Barker got in third.

Bairnsdale 28.11.09

Heat 1

Heat I saw Leon Hennesy leading down the back straight for the first time followed by David Barker, Mitch Foster, Rod Bowman, Michael Phillips, Robert Sands and new comer Robert Hunter. Foster soon got into second place and a couple of laps later managed to get under Hennesy at turn four and opened up a handy lead. Hennesy finished second , Bowman had moved up to third from Phillips,Barker , Hunter and Sands

Heat 2

It was Bowman leading out of turn two closely followed by Foster, Barker, Phillips, Sands, Hennesy and Hunter. Phillips moved up a spot coming down the home straight in the third lap and a couple of laps later Hennesy did the same and got up to fourth. Lap 6 saw Foster getting too close to the wall and was finished for the heat. So it was Bowman who led throughout with Phillips getting up to second place the Barker, Hennesy , Sands and Hunter.

Heat 3

Phillips got to the lead starting on the outside of the front row from Foster, Barker, Bowman, Hennesy, Sands and Hunter. Foster could not get through Phillips in the first lap and soon the placings evened out. and that is pretty much how they finished.

Final

This time it was Bowman who led out of turn two after starting outside Philips. Bowman kept a handy lead with Phillips, Foster and Barker close together from Hennesy, Sands and Hunter. Sands had to pull in with a mechanical problem, and Foster moved into third place. Phillips and Foster moved up closer to Bowman but it was Foster challenging Phillips with Phillips keeping him out. On lap 12 Foster made a move on Phillips at turn four which ended badly for him and he found himself at the rear of the field and he could not make up ground from there. While this was going on Bowman was driving well and held on to come in first from Phillips, Barker who also did well all night third, then Hennesy, Foster and Hunter.

   Nyora 14/11/09

During the rundown of the meeting at Nyora several drivers mentioned how well the class was organised.

It is a credit to the teams in our class for the care and attention they have put in to make the cars so competitive and presented so well both in their appearance and their organisation in engine starts and forming up for races. Several drivers have commented how much of a help it is to have the likes of Peter Curtis and Shane Fisher helping during the running of the meeting. Both these members have been drivers in the class and understand what is needed and the drivers appreciate this.

HEAT 1

The meeting got off to a bad start with David Moore having his first start of the season finding himself backed into the wall getting out of turn three the first time. This left Dennis Jones nowhere to go  with the result Moore was out for the night. Jones was left infield. Daniel Meredith was also caught up in this and had to go infield with a flat right rear.and Mitch Foster had to retire also.

This left Rod Bowman on pole for the restart and he pulled away from David Barker, Peter Logue Michael Phillips , Leon Henessy and Robert Sands.

Bowman led all the way to the finish with Barker, Logue and Phillips having a tussle. Phillips got through Logue  down the back straight and a couple of laps later got into second place coming out of turn two. Logue got through to third. Hennesy spun on turn four I the last lap which meant Sands came in fifth and Hennesy sixth

HEAT 2

Logue got off to a good start in the second heat, testing out his rebuilt motor ,followed by Foster, Jones, Barker. Phillips, Bowman, Hennery, and Sands. Foster had an oil leak but he took off and got ahead of Logue. The stewards thought he had better pull in and this left Jones in the lead from Barker and Phillips had moved up to third. Then came Logue Hennesy Sands and Bowman who also had trouble between turns three and four.

HEAT 3

Heat three saw Hennesy and Bowman coming together on turn two the first time which put them both out. On the restar Jones led Phillips, Foster, Barker and Sands and that is how they finished.

FINAL

Phillips led Jones and Foster throughout with Logue coming in fourth followed by Barker and Sands. Although there was not much passing throughout the race the pace was on with all cars going particularly well. Logue was getting his car up and going and Robert Sands was getting the feel of his car after a long spell away from driving and Barker will be up with the leaders shortly..

Wangaratta 24.10.09

Michael Phillips capped off a great start to the season with his thrilling win in the feature at the Wangaratta Speedway on Saturday night.

He managed to get to the lead through the last turn of the 20 lap final to get over the finish line ahead of Dennis Jones who was just ahead of Mitch Foster.

The second heat saw Jones take advantage of being on the front row and led from start to finish. Foster, Phillips and Bowman closely followed by Barker who was getting the feel of steering a sprintcar as was another first timer to this classm Leon Hennesey and Sands who was doing well.

The third heat saw Jones once again lead throughout with Foster Phillips and Bownan with Hennesy doing well next ahead of Sands and Daniel Meredith, another driver who has been away from the class for a while.

The feature saw Jones on pole with Foster right there with him then came Phillips , Bowman, Hennesey, Barker and Sands . Meredith who was having problems all night with fuel pulled in .The race went right through without a stoppage. Foster was keeping the presuure on Jones. Hennesey got through Bowman but Bowman got his spot back again. Barker was challenging Hennesey but did not get through, With a couple of laps to go Phillips got past Foster and coming into the straight heading for the chequered flag he got to the lead and held on to take out the feature with Jones just holding off Foster. Bowman was next then Hennesey, Barker and Sands.

Drouin meeting 4/10/09

Five cars showed up at the Drouin Speedway on Sunday the 4th Oct.

This was a good opportunity for teams to have a shake down before the season proper gets underway at Wangaratta on the 24th

It was good to see a new team that is the H2S Motorsport team of Tim Hughes and Robert Sands and the return of the Meredith Team with their #92 car.

Dennis Jones showed that he will be a force to be reckoned with again this season. Although it was more a shakedown down meeting he was on the pace during the day.

Another driver that was happy during the day was Shane Fisher in the #88 car. He took off in the second heat and led all the way. He quipped that he has had his win for the season and that he needn't show up again. He and his family had a great day and should look forward to a great season.

Rod Bowman in the Westpoint #35 car took advantage of the outing to check out his car that has had a good going over during the off season.

The #55 with Robert Sands steering is the ex Densley team car that Lauren had success with when she was competing in the VSCA. It won't take long for Robert to get  the feel of sprintcar racing again after having a layoff for several years.

Daniel Meredith used the day to check his car out and is looking forward to Wangaratta.

        ________________________________________________________

There has been a lot going on over the off season with several new teams looking forward to the up coming season.

As can be seen by the drivers so far showing their interest  on the Drivers Page.

We will have a better idea of who will be racing with the VSCA after the Demonstartion Day at the Drouin Raceway on October 4.

However Wayne Logue after his success in the class throughout his time with the VSCA particularly last season, has decided to have a crack at the 360's. At the time of writing he has sold his VSCA engine and has almost got his 360 ready and is looking forward to the season with them.

The 2008/9 Season has been run with Wayne Logue showing he is the yardstick for the class as he has taken out both the State Title and the Series Points score for the season.

Wayne took out the State Title which was previously held by his father Peter Logue who is the driver of the #8 car

.Both these drivers bring a lot of experience into the class and will be setting the pace for the coming season
http://waynelogueracing.com

There will be some new teams entering the class this season.
One of them is the JVG Team

Rob Sands who has been crewing for the Westpoint team over the past few seasons has teamed up with Tim Hughes and will be steering the 55 Car which was previously racing under the Team Densley colours

Mal Siely will be back in the #87 car.

Peter Curtis is stepping back from the track for a while after putting a lot of time into getting the class up and running..

Mal and Mark Bean have got together and will campaign the car this season
