2009 VSCA Victorian Titles

2008/2009 Title   2008/2009 Points         2008/2009 Writeup

We have a new VSCA V1

This year Wayne Logue and his team have taken out the Title with a well set up car , well driven throughout the meeting.

It shows how competitive the class is that the Titleholder has changed each year. All have earned their Title and thile and led from start to finish to get enough points to start off pole for the final.

The final saw him lead from start to finish, keeping out of trouble and not getting caught up in lapped traffic..

The Nyora Speedway Committee did a great job in getting up a good track for the Titles especially considering the hot weather that we had leading up to the weekend.

Fortunately the weather was kinder for the meeting which saw thirteen cars turn up. Unfortunately  one had to withdraw as the driver did not have a current VSC licence. This happened last year and we hope it doesn't happen again as it is devastating for the teams affected.

HEAT 1 10laps

There was confusion at the start but eventually the steward got them off. Mitch Foster was on pole and led down the back straight for the first time. Davies got untidy on turn 4 which resulted in Phillips and Bowman spending the rest of the heat on the infield.

There was another start and another stoppage.
Foster was in the lead again with Dennis Jones next, Wayne Logue had moved up to third then Peter Logue, Mal Siely, Mick Cook, Shane Fisher, Warwick Painter and Graeme Davies.

This is the position they finished.

HEAT 2  10 laps

The next heat saw Rod Bowman take the lead from Mike Phillips. It was Phillips who had trouble at turn 4 this time. He was having a disappointing meeting as he had been going really well earlier in the season and took out the feature last time at Nyora.
Bowman got the start again but Peter Logue got through at turn 3 next time around. Jones was going well and moved up to third . Cook who was starting at the rear moved through the field to get to third.
Once in the lead Peter Logue opened up half lap lead, Cook was trying to get through Jones but was kept out, Bowman was not far behind, Foster was close to Wayne Logue but Siely managed to pick up a spot
So the finishing places were, Peter Logue, Jones, Cook, Bowman, Wayne Logue, Siely, Foster, Painter, Fisher, Phillips and Davies.

HEAT 3 10 laps

Wayne Logue was on pole and was soon out in front and stayed in front. Siely started in #2 and kept his place, Peter Logue finished third despite Foster trying to get through early in the race. Jones followed Foster in, Fisher kept ahead of Cook then Bowman and Painter.

FINAL  30 laps

Bowman was out with a shredded rear on the first turn and Jones pulled in with damage to his front end.

Wayne Logue was a clear leader and soon started lapping the back markers. Peter Logue was next from Foster, Siely, Cook, Phillips, Fisher and Painter.

Peter Logue, Foster and Siely were close to each other and eventually Foster got to second place and soon Siely got through to third.

Wayne Logue continued well out in front with Foster and Siely contesting the minor placings. Siely managed to slip under Foster ,with a few laps to go and held onto take second place.

So the Title went to Wayne Logue from Mal Siely, Mitch Foster, Peter Logue and Mick Cook followed by Painter and Fisher.
